A Cold Winter

Well we are back in school after being gone for most of last week due to the ice storm. I hope each of you had a great time being off. My time off was pretty cold as I didn't have power for 6 days, but the heat is back on and the snow is slowly melting away. I did have some fun however, as I got to spend some time with Roody, a client of my wife Kendell's. As you can see from the picture, he's pretty cool!!

It's Holiday Season

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. I had a blast spending time with my family, and I hope you did as well. This week we will be doing formative testing in my OSCAR class, and we will be doing our formatives in Math on December 11th. We have be doing a lot of practice, so hopefully we will meet our new goals. With that said, we are just about 4 weeks away from Christmas break. I hope you all have been good little boys and girls this year.

Green Day

Today was the final day of green week, and we have learned alot about making our planet a better place. Some classes have been working hard to recycle paper or to turn off lights when they are not using them. Plus, the class that wore the most green today gets an extra recess on Monday. GOOOO GREEN!

4th Grade Program

Next Tuesday (Nov 13) is our 4th grade program, and the theme this year is the Amazing Race. Students throughout the 4th grade have been busy learning songs, memorizing parts, and learning the hula from Ms. Sherwood. I'm very excited to watch this program this year!!

A week later on Tuesday November 20th, that will be our last day of school before Thanksgiving break starts. We don't have school from Nov. 21st-25th. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, and gets to spend lots of time with family and friends. I for one will be eating a lot of turkey and mashed potatoes. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Halloween fun

Yesterday was Halloween, and we had a blast. We started our day by walking around the school in a big parade. There were lots of parents there to cheer us all on, which was very cool. At the end of the day we had a great Halloween party that included fun games like bat making, and skeleton bone sorting.

In other news, today students had the chance to audition for speaking roles in our upcoming program. Our theme this year is the Amazing Race. With only 2 weeks until the program we have lots to do, and lots to memorize. I'm very excited for the program on November 13th!!

What a week!

Last Friday was so much fun as we went to Rolling Hills Zoo. It was crazy getting 100 kids there and back, but we had a wonderful time touring the museum and zoo. The weather was perfect, and we all had such a great time exploring the zoo.

This week, my OSCAR class has earned a ice cream party on Wednesday, and also a good number of students earned a pizza party by reading their 7 books for the KU Reading program. WAY TO GO STUDENT READERS!!!

Next week Halloween is here on Wednesday. Remember to wear your costumes, but make sure they are school approperate. NO BLOOD, NO KNIVES OR WEAPONS, NO MURDER CHARACTERS (JASON, FREDDIE, MICHAEL, ECT). We are also going to have a fun party during math that day, so beware of fun and fright.

Bully Prevention and Rolling Hills

This week marks an exciting week for us. On Monday we will be having a Bully Prevention Presentation that will show students what bullying is, and how to deal with it if they are being bullied. I am sure we will learn a great deal from the presentation.

On Friday we will be heading out to Rolling Hills Zoo. We will be leaving a bit before 9, and will arrive back just before specials start. We are so lucky to be touring not only the zoo, but also the museum as well. I can't wait to go...can you????

School Photo

Today, Monday 10/08/2007 we will be taking a whole school photo out in the front part of the school. Students are asked to wear black, and staff will be wearing red to form an outline. I have been told that this year we will be forming a bear paw.

Welcome to Mr. Michel's Class

It's hard to believe, but it's already October. So far, this year has been amazing, and there are even more amazing things that will be happening soon. On October 19th we will be making our way to Rolling Hills Zoo, for a tour of the museum and the zoo. We are so very excited to be linking what we've learned in science to our zoo tour. We are going to have a blast!
